Mrs. Charles put five ice cubes in a glass. After 20 minutes, most of the ice had melted to form "ice water." There were still some small pieces of ice floating in the water. Mrs. Charles measured the temperature of the ice water then added five more ice cubes to the glass. She measured the temperature three minutes later. What do you predict happened to the temperature of the "ice water" three minutes after she added more ice?
A. The temperature of the "ice water"increased.
B. The temperature of the "ice water" decreased
C. The temperature of the "ice water"stayed the same.
Tell which answer that best matches your thinking. Explain what happens to the temperature of "ice water" when more ice is added. Remember to explain your thinking!
b because when the ice melts and when you add even more it get colder so the tempature get lower

ReplyDeleteI think the answer is B because when you add more ice the temp gose down and if you add more and more it decreased.
ReplyDeleteI think it's B because when you add more ice the temperature deceases because ice is colder than water
ReplyDeleteI think it is b because when putting more ice the water is colder so the temp has decreased
ReplyDeletei think a. beacuse ice is at least -0..it would eventionally get warmmer as the ice melts though.
ReplyDeleteI also think it is B because temputure of the water is lower than the temuture of the ice.
ReplyDeleteI think it is B because you put 5 in then you check the temp of the water after you added 5 more it decreases because it has less time to melt.
ReplyDeleteB beacause it would melt and get colder.
ReplyDeleteOH Mrs.Charles the caterpillar I found was a Banded Sphinx (Eumorpha fasciata).
ReplyDeleteI think that is is A, because when the ice melted the water became colder and ice is already cold then you put it with cold water is becomes colder then the ice goes into the water so that is why I think that A is the answer.
ReplyDeleteI think the temprature dropped because you added more ice to the glass after 3 minutes to make the water colder.
ReplyDeleteHi I found a new body fact the left side of your body is controlled by the right side of your brain while the right side of your body is controlled by the left side of your brain.
ReplyDeletei think b becaus if you add ice to normal water it get coled but if you add ie to ice water it will get even colred.
ReplyDeleteB:because she added more cold ice the tempeter decreased.
ReplyDeleteI think its A or C because three minutes after it could stay the same or since ice is cold that the temperature of the water could raise up.
ReplyDeleteI think the water temperature will stay the same because the melting point always stays the same. The ice is melting so the tempature will be at 0 celcius
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Nicole W because if you are adding more ice in the water and and you check the temperature three minutes later most of the ice should have melted and the ice that melted would be cold water.
ReplyDeleteC the temperature will stay the same, because it is not going to get any colder or else it will freeze
ReplyDeleteI think B because the ice is cold so the tempature will get colder.
ReplyDeleteI think that before she added the extra cubes and the cubes before became ice water, the temperture increased but when she added the extra ice cubes and took the temperture 3 minutes later, the temperture decreased because by adding the ice, it made the water colder which made the teperture increase. I think the answer is B.
ReplyDeletei thank that the water tempature is going to be colder and decrease :)
ReplyDeleteB I think it will decraese because if you add more ice the water will get colder.
ReplyDeletesorry when I said it made the water colder which made the temperture increase, I meant to say decrease
ReplyDeleteI think that it will be B because the air in a room is a lot hotter than a ice cube
ReplyDeletei think its B because if you add more ice it will decrease
ReplyDeleteI know that the temp goes up.
ReplyDeleteI think the answer is c because she adds more ice but It melts at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI think the tempeture of the ice will increase because of the heat.
ReplyDeletei think it increase because the temp and heat when you put the added ice.
ReplyDeleteit decreased because the more ice you put in it the more cold it gets
ReplyDeleteThe temp. will proabably decrease because the ice is colder than the water.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma, it is B because It will decrese, If you add ice to water it will get colder.
ReplyDeletei think its b because ice makes water colder
ReplyDeleteI think B because the more ice you put in, the colder the water gets.
ReplyDeletei think its b because if you add ice to the water the tempature will decrease.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Steven because. Ice makes the water colder.
ReplyDeleteI agree wuth you too Arman because when i put my waterbottle last night I picked it up the next morning and it felt soooooooooooooooo cold! More cold then you think! so yeah Arman I agree with you
ReplyDeleteI think its b, because the more you put ice into it then the more the temperature is going to go down.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Melanie. The water first got warmer and then when we put the ice in, it got colder. I think B
ReplyDeleteB is correct because the ice is 0 degrese celcius and the water is a higher temp.
ReplyDeletei thing it is c because when we did the project today the tempeture of the ice water stayed the same
ReplyDeleteI think the answer is B because ice makes the water colder, so it decreases!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Georgia.L.
The answer might be C though, but not sure.
ReplyDeletemy answer is B because when she added more ice cubes the temperature dropped.
ReplyDeleteI think that the water will stay the same because it is areldy at 0 C so it will stay the same.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be the same so C and I agree with Samuel
ReplyDelete:)
this experament today was awesome i think of any other better experamant
ReplyDeleteI think the answer is B because putting Ice in water makes water colder .
ReplyDeleteI think Jaikin is correct because ice makes water colder.
