I was reading Spirit Magazine on my flight from Houston to Dallas. The magazine is 179 pages long, with 2 covers (front and back) AND a fold out page. I've just become fascinated with QR codes, so I was counting how many were in the magazine. I was on page 135 when the plane landed and didn't get to finish the magazine, but I'd counted 17 QR codes so far. How many QR codes do you think would be in the whole magazine?

ReplyDeleteI did the math and I got about 25 QR codes. And a code should pop up about every 7 pages.
ReplyDeleteok i did the math wrong and the real awnser was about 22 QR codes in all.and there was a QR code about every 8 pages.
ReplyDeleteQR codes are really fun. Next time I come, we'll do a QR scavenger hunt! Colter, can you explain how you found your answer?
ReplyDeleteI would divide 17 into 135 which is 7 R16 so about every 8th page and then 181 divied by 8 which is 22 R5 so 22 QR codes and about one on every 8th page
ReplyDeleteI got 22 (almost 23) also.
ReplyDeletefirst I divided 17 into 135 and found out there were a qr on approximately 8 pages. i then divided the the total number of pages by 8 and got 22 with a remainder of 7.

My answer was, there are 18 QR codes in all. I got my answer by drawing a picture
ReplyDeleteMy first answer was incorrect. My second answer is there are 22.5 QR codes in the book. I got that answer by dividing 135 by 17 and got 8. Then I subtracted 179 and 135 and got 44 pages left. Then I divided 44 by 8 and got 5.5. The reason I did that was to find out how many codes you see every 8 pages. The final step was to add 17 and 5.5 which is 22.5.
ReplyDeleteI did 135 divided by 17 and got that there was about 1 QR code on every page then I did 181 divided by 8 and got 22r5.
ReplyDeletei got 22QR and divided 17 into 135 and got 22QR
ReplyDeleteI first thought the answer was 70 QR codes. I thought it was 34 because if you found 17 on 135 pages. and there are still at least 35 pages left so I thought you could have another 17. But I knew that was wrong once I divided and multiplied again so I agree with Georgia but not remainder 5 just 22
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree with Mary Ann because I tried to do this problem over and over again but all i got for my answer was 22
ReplyDeleteI got about 22 because if you do 8 divided by 179, you get 22r3. A QR code popes up at about every 8 pages.
ReplyDeletewhats a QR code?
ReplyDeleteTheir was a QR code each 8 pages and she read 22 QR codes.
ReplyDeleteIf you divide 179 by 8 you get 22r3.And a qr code
ReplyDeletecomes evry 8 pages.
I agree with Arman. I did the same thing, I divided 179 by 8 and got the same answer 22r3.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u arman i divided 179 by 8 you get 22r3 but the qr codes come up every 7 pages
ReplyDeleteFrist I divided 135 by 17 I got 27 remander 16.
ReplyDeleteThen I divided 182 by 8 and got 22 remander 6.
Love the responses here! Kudos to Mary Ann, and Nicole for really telline me how you got your answer! 5 dots for your groups!
ReplyDelete@ Daniel- Emma explained what a QR code is second from the top.
If you gave me a number answer before my comment, good job! 1 dot a piece! I will check back. Good commemts = DOTS!!!!
I got 22 because I set up a proportion and did 17/135 equal to X/179. My tutor helped me figure this out!
ReplyDeleteWell kelsie and i did not really have a right answer but we meuased the lengh of thee food court and the shopping places and how many steps from gate to gate then we tried to get the number closest to the number we divied by but we did use the white board in the libary But we got 22 for our answer when we divided.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cameron because I got that awnser too and I did that same process
ReplyDeletei got 22 because i first divided 17 by 135 and got 7 R16 so thats about 8 so then i divided 8 by 181 and got 22 R5 so almost 23
ReplyDeleteMe and Cameron did all of our math on the white board and someone took a pic on it and was to paste in on the blog and so our answer was 22foot steps
ReplyDeleteHow many qr codes are on each ten pages?
ReplyDelete@Jaikin- that is what you are trying to figure out :)
ReplyDelete@Cameron and Jackson are you talking about the other problem????
ReplyDelete@ Claire J 5 dots for you too!
then got 44 and divided that by 8 and got 5 then added 17 5 and got 22 qr codes
ReplyDeletewell first i divided 135 by 7. then i divide 17 my quotent 179. and got my awnser 22.:)
ReplyDeleteJude, I see 2 really different answers from you. Which one do you think is correct. Can you explain why?
ReplyDeleteNicole W., can you scan your picture and upload it? I'd love to see what you did.
