While we are there, we will also get to experience a mock legislative session in the Capitol. So to prepare for the trip, I have a few questions about our government for you to ponder.
- If you were in Congress, what state law would you propose and why?
- What are the similarities and differences between state and federal government?
- What are the similarities and differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate?
- What is Governor Perry's role in lawmaking?
- What is the Supreme Court's role in lawmaking?
I like the videos alot they helped me alot.
ReplyDeleteI think the difrence is between the state and federal goverment is state goverment makes laws for its own state. The federal goverment makes laws of the United States.
ReplyDeleteSupreme courts role in lawmaking is. They make the final decision and they pass laws.
ReplyDeleteThose are so cool I learned a lot on all that info! Pumped for Austin!!
ReplyDeleteIf I was congress I belive that smoking should be against the law!!!Too many people are getting lung cancer and 2nd hand smoke is terrible for you to breathe. And if that happen I think that the world would be a better place and healthlier place and more safe. I know it might be hard but know that we could do it.
ReplyDeleteThe judicial branch makes sure the laws are constitutional.
ReplyDeleteThe executive branch has a president.
The legislative branch passes laws.
The difference between state and federal government is that state is just for the state and federal is for the whole country
ReplyDeleteIf I were a corgress I would make a law that kids should have a little less homework because they need to be active they should not be working allday long they should have fun or mabey they could have fun homwork and that is what I would make a law I would make if iwere a congress.
ReplyDeletethe diffences are the state goverment dose not have a president and the similaritys are they both havea congress
ReplyDeleteIf I was in Congress I would make cyberbuiling agenst the law because too many people are getting cyberbuiled and some teens or kids get thier feelings hurt
ReplyDeleteCameron, nice commet! I sort of agree though
ReplyDeleteGovener Perry's role in lawmaking is final approval of legislation. He can approve or veto legislation. If he vetos legislation it can't become law unless it is the legislation is approved by two thirds of the house.

ReplyDeleteIf I was congress I would be in TX because it is my home state.I would propose the law that everyone pays the same amount of tax!!!
ReplyDeleteThe supreme court`s role in lawmaking is they make the final decision before a law is passed.
ReplyDeleteI really like these videos. Ecspeacially the first one becuase it gave a lot of info about the three branches of goverment. I answered questions 1, 4, and 5. As Jackson t. said, "I am pumped for Austin!"
ReplyDelete1. I agree with Kaitlyn on my law. I think cyberbullying should be against the law because many kids are getting hurt by it.
4. Rick Perry's job is to make sure the laws and jobs get fone. He can also veto them if he doesn't like them.
5. The supreme court's role in lawmaking is to make sure the laws are following the rules.
I think the videos were helpful.
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot of things from this info.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait go Austin.
Governor Perry's role in lawmaking is singing bills in to laws.
ReplyDelete2. The difference between the state and federal goverment is that the state goverment makes laws for its state and the federal makes laws for the whole U.S.
ReplyDeleteif i was in congress i would make a law of people should always were a helmet on a motercycle because they need to pertect them selfs
ReplyDeleteIf I was in a congress I would make a law of people who should never steal stuffs because it is the nices thing to do.
ReplyDeleteThe videos were fantastic and they greatly improved my knowledge on legislative ,judicial , and executive branches .
ReplyDeleteif I could make any law it would be that no matter how poor you were, you could still see the doctor and dentist.
ReplyDeleteIf I was in congress I would make it a law to NOT smoke with kids around becaus,it is bad to enhale smoke in the frist place. You need to stop if you have kids becaus you dont want them to die or start to smoke at a young age.
ReplyDeletei really like melanie
ReplyDeleteIf I was in Congress I would pass a law if you are smoking in the car ( witch you shouldn't be) you cant throw a cigarette out the window. Because it could start a wildfire.
ReplyDeleteIf I were in congress I would pass a law saying that no one could text while driving. It would cause less acidents. Kaitlyn I also like your idea about cyberbulling.
ReplyDeleteif i were in congress i would pass a law saying teachers should get more money because i want to be a teacher when i am older but i also want to get more money.
ReplyDeleteThe simalarites and differnces in tha state and fedaral goverment are the fedaral goverment is more powerful than the state and a simalarite between the two are that they both have the power of something
ReplyDeleteGovener Perry's role in law making is that he check the handbook and has to agree with the law.
ReplyDeleteif i was in congress i would pass a law saying that no one should smoke under the age of 18, also they would have to have a pass to smoke.
ReplyDeletethis would insher that kids would not snoke and people were more healthy
The supreme courts role is to check that the rules can be acepted in the handbook
ReplyDeleteI think that the difference between state and federal government is that the state government doesn't make laws for another place but their own state. And the federal government just makes laws for the U.S.
ReplyDeleteThe Supreme Court's role in law making is to decide if the law is unconstitutional.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Georgia because, if you text or smoke while you driving then sometime you don't pay any attention to the road and can cause a wreck!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with trace that the supreme court role is law makeing is to decide if the law is constustuional or nonconstitutional. cant nwait tell feild trip:):D
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rylan because if you smoke you can die and if someone is next to someone smoking then the other person can get sick too. 2. I also agree with Yaser on question 2. 4. I agree with Melanie on question 4. 5. The supreme courts role is that the can rule whether actions are constitutional and can rule whether laws passed are constitutional.
ReplyDeleteO and I totally agree with Cameron that kids should have less homework and not working all day
ReplyDeleteI think that you should not be to use any profane language in any public environment. The reason it should be law is because we want the citizens of this city and state to only speak positively about other people in a public environment. By : Warren Barfield
ReplyDeleteThe state law that I would make is that kids go to school less than five days and have less school hours and homework because kids need to spend time with their family and not work all day.
ReplyDeleteGovernor perry's role in law making is once both houses approve the bill,it is sent to the Governor. He or she has the same three options the president has when considering a bill, sigh the bill into law or ignore the bill.
ReplyDeleteSo if all the congress men say yes but the president says no that is a veto
ReplyDeleteI agree with emma because the supreme court makes the final dicision.
ReplyDeletegoverner perry has to sign laws, just like obama
ReplyDeletehe either signs or vetos it
I know that this is not the right subject, but I didn't see a post about this. This is about the cay. The main idea in this chapter is that they see an island. I also saw some conflict. I wrote those down on sticky notes in my book. That was this chapter! Melanie
